Marathon Madness

I got absolutely nothing accomplished at work yesterday.  All day I read news feeds from Boston, stalked the ones I knew running on the athlete tracker, checked facebook status, etc...  I even shed a tear or two of happiness.  What an exciting day and a great motivator!  Yesterday's events certainly has me even more fired up to train hard over these next 6 weeks so I can reach my ultimate goal; to qualify for Boston!

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
The 2nd place female finisher, Desiree Davila, lives about 40 minutes from my city and trains with Hanson's running group.  I knew she would be running Boston, but had no idea how well she would finish. Way to represent Michigan Desiree!
As for the men, well, I am speechless.  It seems un-human like to be able to run that fast for 26.2 miles!  So incredible and fascinating to watch.
Check out these fabulous bloggers who ran the Boston Marathon!
Stephanie, who ran her 50th state yesterday and 59th marathon.
Christine, first time Boston marathoner and I am 100% positive it won't be her last.
Sarah, ran the Gansett marathon Saturday and Boston on Monday.
Jim, running 50 marathons after turning 40 years old.
Cate, who ran her first Boston 20 weeks pregnant.
Bayshore Marathon!
Dad and I are officially registered for our 3rd marathon. We have chosen a spring marathon that falls on memorial weekend; Bayshore Marathon. The marathon runs along the coast of Lake Michigan in Traverse City. It's a flat, fast, out and back course. Now it's time to research and chose the best training program. This will be my 3rd marathon and my 2nd try at a BQ. I am so happy that I will have my dad running along my side. He will push me when I need it so I can reach my goal!
Your longest run since when???
Wow, 2 posts in one day. I am on a roll!
Tomorrow morning is supposed to be 36 degrees. That is like a heat wave! Since it will be so warm (for us Michiganders) I plan on taking advantage of that. I have mapped out my longest run since the marathon on October 18th, 2009.
I will be running 10.10 miles.
Am I worried? Nope. Not at all. Excited? Absolutely! Seeing that I have not had any long runs since October, it makes me disappointed in myself. I am so glad my racing season is about to start. Running will be my #1 priority! And long distance running won't be a thing of the past.
Marathon in May?
I have a dilema. The half marathon I wanted to run memorial weekend is sold out. There are only 300 spots left in the marathon, so if I want to run the full I need to register now. The one thing holding me back is the thought of not being ready and not beating my previous marathon time. I also am scared to run it alone. I had my dad as my support for my first marathon and not sure I can do this on my own.
I also want to run a full in 2010 and finish with a BQ time, which I am considering the Chicago marathon as my BQ goal. Again, I am trying to convince my dad to run it with me.
Anyway, I thought about just running the marathon on memorial weekend at an comfortable pace and not worrying about my time, but I know how I am and I can't do that.
I just don't know what to do!
