Two-A-Day!

I experienced my first two-a-day.

Yesterday I woke up bright and early before work to head out for a 4.3 mile run. I had a decent pace of 8:05 per mile and felt pretty darn good, especially after being very sick for 2 days. After work it was hot and humid so I went to the gym to run the treadmill. I had planned to run a minimum of 4 miles, max of 6 miles. I made it 5 miles and it was tough! I averaged a 9:00 per mile pace, which is definitely on the slow end for me. I wasn't feeling all that well when I left the gym. I was hot, dripping with sweat and sick to my stomach. I made sure to grab a bottle of G2 as soon as I walked in the door. I thought about the run and what might have gone wrong and I determined it was a combination of errors on my part.

Error 1. I didn't eat enough through out the day. Salad and fruit doesn't cut it! I should know better.
Error 2. I believe I should have waited a couple more days to do this since I had just gotten over being very sick. I was so sick on Monday & Tuesday that I lost 6lbs, so doing my first two-a-day on Wednesday wasn't the smartest move.

Overall, I have to consider it a success regardless of how I felt during and after. It's a success since I have never done a two-a-day and no matter how hard it was, I made it through!

5 refreshing miles!

That sums up my run last night. I have been, what you could call, a baby when it comes to the cold. I have not run outdoors since November 26th. All of my running has been indoors on the track or treadmill at the stuffy gym. That is, until last night. I headed out right after work and boy am I ever glad that I did. it felt great to have the cool air on my skin and in my lungs. I carried my mace with me, just in case. I am not a big fan of running outside in the dark by myself. but last night I could have kept going, and going, and going! I stopped at 5 miles though. I didn't pace myself, but I know by looking at the clock before heading out and when I returned, I had an estimated 8 minute mile.

I can't wait to head back outside for a run tomorrow and Saturday morning!

Day 1-3 of week 5

Well, I am into week 5 of my 18 week training. Only 13 weeks and 4 days until the marathon!

Monday was a rest day, which I did not do. I ended up biking for 40 minutes and strength training for back muscles & triceps. I also did push ups and abs once I go home from the gym.

Yesterday I ran 5.73 miles with an 8.22 pace. I felt good through out the entire run. Usually my evening runs can be rough but this one was not. yay!

Tonight I am going to run 6 miles, if it is not storming. If for some reason the storms have not cleared up by the time I get home from work, I will head to the gym to run the indoor track and finish with intervals on the elliptical.

This week I have not had the "I don't think I can do this" thoughts. I am sure they will be back next week though.
